We love trails, parks, cultural destinations, and being outside every chance we get. We believe greenspaces make our lives better, and want you to be able to experience them without a car. Unfortunately, the Covid-19 virus forced us all to rethink our lives and how we interact with each other and our environment.
Many businesses and social establishments are closed. However, parks in our region are still open, minus the amenities like staffed environmental centers, bathrooms, and other on-site facilities. You can still walk, roll, or bike on trails, and we encourage you to do so. Mindfulness and spending time in nature (with proper social distancing) are more important than ever, and will keep your mind and body healthy.
You may have noticed some changes to the GoPhillyGo mobile site and Android app. Due to CDC guidelines, and the closure of most environmental centers and cultural institutions in our region, we have removed all upcoming events from our events page. We also temporarily removed museums, galleries, and some smaller parks from our list of GoPhillyGo destinations.
The good news is we left all the amazing parks, trails, and greenspaces large enough to practice proper social distancing. That means you can still find great places like Tacony Creek Park and Wissahickon Valley Park and get there without a car. Now is a great time to take a long bike ride to a park you have never visited or just a walk around your neighborhood to get out of the house. Whatever your reason is for wanting to be outside, GoPhillyGo is here to help you get there. Our team is monitoring the situation, and as soon as destinations begin to reopen, we will add them back to our website and app, and let you know. Until then, practice safe social distancing, and take time to relax outside. Stay healthy!
