Stay Cool This Summer with Help From the GoPhillyGo Trip Planner!

With summer in full swing and temperatures reaching all time highs, let GoPhillyGo be your guide to keeping cool. Over the past couple of weeks we published a list of public pool openings complete with links on how to get there by bike, foot or transit. All of the Philly public pools are open now and just an air-conditioned public transit ride away!

If you are looking for an alternative to a public pool, here are some ideas to shelter from the heat this summer:

Free Public Library: Philadelphia’s public libraries are quiet air conditioned spaces where you can hide away from the sun. Visit one of the branches designated as a cooling site with extended hours, take part in an event or just sit amongst the stacks and relax with a book.

Central Parkway Library - 1901 Vine St

Walnut St. West Library - 201 South 40th St.

Cecil B. Moore Library - 2320 Cecil B. Moore Ave.

South Philadelphia Library - 1700 S Broad St

Spraygrounds + Recreation Centers: Watch your little one squeal and splash with delight as they run through sprinklers at one of the many playgrounds in Philadelphia with a water feature.

Dilworth Park - 1 S 15th St.

Jerome Brown Playground - 3401 N 20th St.

Carroll Park - 5801 Girard Ave.

Senior Centers: These facilities open to all ages are set up during the week as safe havens for anyone needing respite from the heat. Use them to sit and take a cooling rest before continuing with your day.

Katie B Jackson Community Center - 1410 N 16th St

Gladys B Jacobs Community Center - 1100 Fairmount Ave

Greater Greys Ferry Senior Center - 3001 Moore St
