This Week in the Watershed May 23rd - 29th

This week there are plenty of great events happening across the watershed to keep you busy. Join local parks and environmental centers to learn about mushrooms, go for a bike ride, or volunteer on a farm! Ongoing - POOL: A Social History of Segregation

Head to Fairmount Water Works to check out their new exhibit about the history and legacy of segregated swimming pools in Philadelphia and beyond. 


Tuesday at 5:30pm - We Walk PHL Tuesday Nights 

Join a free walking group for a walk at Pennypack on the Delaware. No registration required. This meetup happens every Tuesday in May and June, so if you missed this one, come next week! 


Wednesday at 10:00am - Weekly Wednesday Clean Up

Join your neighbors to help clean up Tacony Creek Park. All tools and supplies will be provided, please register in advance. 


Wednesday at 5:00pm - Wednesday Free Fishing

Go fishing at Bartram’s Garden! Equipment, bait, and basic instructions will be provided. First come, first served. 


Thursday at 1:00pm - Meadow Exploration

Explore with Cobbs Creek Community Environmental Center and learn about meadows and the insects, birds, and flowers that inhabit it. This program is for homeschool and out of school students. 


Saturday at 9:30am - Sankofa Community Farm Volunteer Day

Work along farm staff to support season plantings, harvesting, weeding, and more at Sankofa Community Farm. Please register in advance.


Saturday at 10:00am - Bike Tour of Bartram’s Mile & Urban Riding Basics  

Join the Bicycle Coalition at Bartram’s Garden for a slow-paced beginner ride and info session about bike safety  for this introduction to biking around the city! Event is free, and geared towards those 14 and above. 


Saturday at 1:00pm - Beginner Mushroom Walk

Join Bethany Teigen of the Philadelphia Mycology Club to learn about mushrooms, fungi, and which are edible during a walk through Morris Park. 


Saturday at 3:00pm - Spring Bike Ride

Bring your bike to John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge for a 3.5 mile ride around the refuge. No registration required. Hybrid or mountain bike tires recommended for biking on the gravel paths. 


Sunday at 10:00am - Yoga with Jenna

This free weekly yoga session in Tacony Creek Park is back outside! All levels and ages are welcome, please bring a yoga mat if you have one.
