This Weekend in the Watershed 10/16

You made it halfway through the week, and GoPhillyGo wants to help you plan an outdoor activity for the weekend. Parks need a little help this time of year to get ready for winter. We made a list of some of our favorite volunteer events happening this weekend, and as always you can find even more events on the GoPhillyGo Android app and mobile site. Double down on your commitment to a healthy environment, and use GoPhillyGo to get there sustainably!

Monthly Cobbs Creek Park Clean Up

Help cleanup Cobbs Creek Park, Saturdays 9 - Noon. Join dedicated volunteer Rich Guffanti on his weekly clean up of Cobbs Creek Park. Note that the clean ups are usually along the parkway at street level. The location changes weekly. Contact RichGuffanti@yahoo.com for location. Click here for directions.

Stewardship Saturdays @John Heinz NWR

This is an open event that welcomes all visitors to take part in a hands on experience of creating better habitats for wildlife on the Refuge. Folks will meet at the Visitor's Center where they will meet and then work with experienced "Weed Warriors" who will teach them about removing invasive plants and planting native plants to improve native plant diversity and/or food sources for wildlife.

Long pants and comfortable clothes are recommended! Click here for directions.

Restoration Saturdays @Schuylkill Center For Environmental Education

Help us to improve the health and biodiversity of our forest while getting to know the Center’s property, connecting with nature, and making new friends. On workdays, volunteers will remove invasive plants, plant native species, and help to improve our trails.

We recommend long pants, sturdy boots, and a sense of fellowship. No experience necessary—we provide gloves, tools, instruction, and snacks. Please bring your own water bottle.

Workday will be canceled in the event of severe weather. Click here for directions

Riverfront North Volunteer Drop In @Lardner’s Point Park
