Philadelphia Insectarium and Butterfly Pavilion

The Insectarium and Butterfly Pavilion is 7000 square foot indoor rainforest in the Holmesburg neighborhood of Northeast Philadelphia. Inside this oasis, 2000 individual butterflies make up 60 to 70 different species that fly gracefully throughout the gardens, occasionally landing on giant leaves and vines that grow up to the ceiling. Another section of the building houses one of the most diverse arthropod zoos in the country with 80 different species on display. Visitors will find helpful tour guides that are more than willing to open up the cages, so that you or your child can have a hands on up-close encounter with some very interesting creatures.
