Tacony Creek Park-Whitaker Gateway
This gorgeous urban park straddles the Tacony-Frankford Creek as it winds north toward Montgomery County. The park is wedged between several densely populated neighborhoods in lower Northeast Philadelphia, but once you are in the park, it’s easy to forget you are still in the city. The tranquil creek waters, trees and critters scurrying around make up a serene experience as you walk through the forest. There’s 10 neighborhood gateways to access the trail and park along the way. The Tacony Creek Trail is part of the Circuit Trail network, and cyclists can enjoy 3.2 miles of paved greenway with a loop at the northern trailhead.
Trail: 3.2 mi, paved surface
